Job Description FSST Education Department Full-Time-Recreation Coordinator
Job Summary: The Recreation Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, planning, organizing, and directing year-round sport and non-sport related activities or programs for all ages, but primarily targeting the tribal youth within the community. Provides and promotes safety, encouragement, motivation, and wellness to all members of the community center.
Education & Qualifications: High School Diploma or 2-3 years' experience in the Recreational department is required; a degree in Recreation and Community Programming with a strong background in youth mentorship is greatly preferred. Must pass be able to pass and maintain a PL 101.630 Character Background Check. Must pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen. Skill in First Aid and CPR Certification. Possession of a valid driver's license and insurable by the FSST. Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to interface with a wide range of clientele, internal staff, external service providers, committee members, and community members as well as young people and parents; both publicly and meeting style. Must have extensive knowledge of Native American issues, customs, culture, and history; both in a contemporary setting and historically.
