Responsibilities
• Carrying and placing track materials using various tools• Installing railroad tracks, embankments, and road crossing signage• Repairing and replacing signs on railroad crossings• Aligning and cutting track tie plates and rails• Performing drilling activities and ensuring track safety• Removing vegetation between rails• Lubricating joints and switches• Completing authorized repairs and documenting outcomes• Laying and fixing track foundations and sections• Operating heavy equipment and tools for long periods of time• Attending callouts to repair damage in case of derailment• Assisting in lubricating wheel bearings• Following company and federal rules and safety procedures
Requirements
• Must be 18 years of age or older• Must pass required assessments/trainings and background checks• High School diploma preferred but not required• Previous experience in railroad or heavy construction/maintenance industry preferred• Willingness to travel to various job sites and work in all weather conditions• Physical ability to perform essential job duties
