Position Summary The Quality Technician will be responsible for assessing material dimensional and functional integrity using multiple measurement technologies. The material to be evaluated includes incoming from suppliers, work-in-process subsystems, and final assemblies. The measurement methodologies include laser, and physical gauges. The Quality Technician is responsible for compiling data, and generating inspection reports. Position Responsibilities Employee Training and Awareness Complete within one year Quality-related modules as agreed Demonstrated progress toward within 2 years, ASQ certification as a Certified Quality Improvement Associate (CQIA) Be an active participant in quality-related improvement activities with cross-functional team members as needed. Work with all levels of associates to learn all manufacturing processes from raw materials to final assembly. Read blueprints and use gages and other inspection equipment to properly inspect incoming parts, finished products, and raw materials and collect associated data as needed. Be a participant in CI and learning across all functional areas through training and communication of quality initiatives. Be recognized as a go-to person for manufacturing personnel for solutions to the acceptability of product and/or processes Build Quality into the Manufacturing Process The primary task is to conduct receiving inspection in accordance with procedures of vendor parts as necessary. Communicate findings to manufacturing personnel and/or Supply Chain in a clear, concise, timely manner Makes quality decisions about suspect parts and disposition of defective material both from supplier and internal production. Using core tools provides a proactive approach to building quality into the process rather than inspecting for quality. Assist in the development of assembly fixturing and gaging. Assist with the development of Poke-yoke processes through manufacturing. Adhere to the QMS such as control plans, PPAP, FMEA, calibrations, etc. Conduct and maintain an internal inspection program throughout the manufacturing process. Assist the calibration program on gages, torque wrenches, air tools, etc. Adhere to compliance with nationally recognized standards such as ISO, ASME, etc. Be a support to the internal product groups, management, new product development, and engineering as required. Problem Troubleshooting Field Incidents, Internal Incidents, Supplier Incidents Corrective Action report investigations . Participate with cross-functional team to develop internal resolution of manufacturing non-conformances to prevent recurrence. Support investigation of product quality problems, determine root cause, gather, and analyze data and implement corrective action to reduce or eliminate cause. Identifies opportunities and communicates with Quality Engineers for change requests to process engineering related to drawing corrections, product assembly problems, etc. Assist in the tracking and measurement of First Pass Yield and the development of action plans for improvement. Be part of the first-line reaction force for Customer Complaints and coordinate quarantine and containment processes as necessary in a timely, effective manner Continuous Improvement/Lean Enterprise Develop and implement best practices leading to improvements in lean manufacturing concepts and product quality. Support the implementation of the 5-S workplace organization processes in the plant through direct project involvement and through fellow team members. Establish and utilize frameworks and systems, including tools such as visual management, problem-solving, standard work, and kaizen. Ability to cooperate and commit in a team environment to achieve goals and deliverables. Resolve difficult or complicated challenges using the problem-solving process. Position Qualifications Speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations, demonstrate group presentation skills, and ability to conduct meetings. Strong ability to express complicated and technical matters in a clear, concise manner. Intermediate computer skills including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams Ideal Candidates Will Also Have Experience working in Manufacturing industries preferred Knowledge and/or experience in the vehicle industry a plus.
