Responsibilities Execute quality plans and verify / document the results of these plans utilizing various types of inspection equipment. Such inspection equipment may include coordinate measuring machine, Micro-Vu vision inspection, optical comparator, micrometers, microscope, hardness tester, calipers, height gages, plug gages, torque tester, force tester, etc. Must also be familiar with surface plate set-ups and the use of gage and angle blocks. Performs close tolerance inspection of complex manufactured components, sub-assemblies and purchased components, and evaluates compliance to print requirements. Must display an ability to use a combination of equipment and setup techniques to guarantee accurate measurements. Compile, evaluate and maintain quality inspection records in support of reporting quality trends. Coordinate the identification and ensure the effective quarantine of suspect and nonconforming material. Analyze materials, parts and process issues to determine failure modes. Assist in troubleshooting product and processing issues within the manufacturing facility. Responsible to read and interpret common dimensioning systems related to manufactured product. Participate in the development of corrective and preventive action plans. Assist in the investigation of customer concerns with the performance of testing and studies. Inspectors are the Customer advocates within MJ Celco, acting as their representatives. Foster communication with manufacturing personnel to achieve team cooperation. Check and verify equipment calibration specifications, logbooks, housekeeping and QA documentation policies outlined by the QA Manager. Perform calibration and certification on a variety of final acceptance and in-process gages, tools, jigs and fixtures, and other measuring equipment. Other duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager Requirements High School diploma or equivalent. Must have a solid background in the visual inspection of stamped and assembled parts. 1-2 years of relevant experience is preferred. Ability to visualize a manufacturing process flow and, based on final product characteristics, identify key features at each stage of the manufacturing process. Ability to document product features to be inspected at each stage of the manufacturing process. Ability to perform visual inspections including burrs, cracks, orientation of features, cleanliness, surface defects, etc. Ability to maintain and use hand held inspection equipment (e.g., micrometer, caliper, radius gages, thread plug gages, thread ring gages, etc.) Ability to perform surface plate inspections using height gage, angle blocks, parallels, etc. Ability to manually record data in a legible manner. Ability to work with others and coordinate joint efforts such as suspect product quarantine. Ability to communicate effectively in English. Ability to quickly adapt to new, and changing, requirement, techniques, methods and/or processes. Understanding of ISO/IATF16949 requirements. Strong Customer focus is required.
