The Financial Analyst Intermediate monitors the financial activity of the ten different divisions of the Quality Department. The analyst reviews monthly statement activity, compares it to budget, prepares reports, and discusses variances with division directors. Working with their manager and the Senior Director of Quality, the analyst assists to prepare the yearly budget for all ten divisions, culminating in a comprehensive all Quality budget. The analyst also ensures Quality?s compliance with all University internal controls requirements.
Ideal candidates for this position will be problem solvers who are skilled in variance analysis and have experience with budgeting and forecasting. Relationship building with division directors and administrative staff, timely payment of invoices, and advanced Excel skills are also key to this position.
60%    Maintain, monitor and track financial and budgetary performance for the Quality Department
Comprehend and distill issues, providing context, validate assumptions against facts, and analyze and evaluate various courses of action to generate comprehensive solutions Assist the Senior Director of Quality in the development of the Quality Department budget Conduct meetings with division directors/managers to review current spending trends Cost Analysis of current fiscal year Prepare professional presentation materials to be used internally and externally Use SmartView and Hyperion financial systems to enter budget information Develop and maintain financial and operations performance and metric reporting, establishing controls to maintain budget oversight Develop monthly financial documents reviewing actual vs. budget activities for the Department and for each of ten divisions Maintain a broad understanding of all major financial issues with the Quality Department Promote cooperation and effectively manage relationship both within Quality and in representing Quality to other units/departments Ensure adherence to budget; reporting any variances Take corrective action when necessary Analyze financial data, prepare journal entries where necessary and upload into M-Pathways Track budget variances, providing explanations where necessary Maintain fiscal year variance approvals received from leadership Perform monthly detailed reconciliation activities for the Quality Department, across all Quality divisions Conduct financial modeling, analyze departmental cost centers, spending trends, and explain variances to Senior Director and all Division Directors/Managers Assist with the management and distribution of Pay for Performance dollars Act as CONCUR approver for staff reports for the Quality Department, as appropriate Prepare People Pay honorariums Responsible to approve supply expenditures and special purchases based on available funds Advise division directors regarding spending related to budget balance Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and value-driven culture with the Quality Department Establish and maintain positive working relationships with payor representatives and internal customers 35%    Internal Controls and Compliance
Develop and manage internal and external vendor agreements and contracts to ensure compliance with all requirements and standards Review business financial controls to maintain budget oversight; review transactions for compliance with relevant policies and regulations and provide departmental authorization for these transactions. Upload transactions into the M-Pathways Financial and Physical Resources System Ensure department is following appropriate procedures outlined in the Gap Analysis process Uphold Quality Financial Best Practices document and ensure compliance with set practices by all Quality divisions. Propose new best practices as appropriate. 5%    Other duties as assigned.
Associate's Degree in administration, finance, or relevant field of study, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At least 2 years' experience with financial duties (budget, account reconciliation, payments, etc.). Solid financial and administrative acumen, able to apply accounting principles and applications; monitor the financial status of a unit, and prepare budgets; ensure compliance with policies, rules, and regulations; assess, investigate, and resolve complex issues. Ability to work at all levels of a large organization, building and maintaining close working relationships. Be self-directed, detail oriented with strong organizational, analytic, and problem solving skills, as well as have exceptional verbal and written communications skills. Possess a strong dedication to customer service and ability to work within a team-focused, participative management environment. Ability to independently assess competing priorities, manage workflow and meet operational deadlines in a complex organization. Demonstrated proficiency utilizing Microsoft Excel and Word Experience using University-based systems such as Financial & Physical Resources System, Human Resource Management System, Business Objects, Data Mart, Business Intelligence, CONCUR.
