Overview:
Mortgage Quality Control Underwriter
Join our team as a Mortgage Quality Control Underwriter! We are seeking a dedicated professional to ensure the integrity of residential mortgage loans by meticulously re-underwriting them according to established guidelines. Your focus will be on the three pillars of underwriting: Credit, Capacity, and Collateral. Through comprehensive audits, you'll identify and rectify any underwriting, processing, or valuation issues that may impact loan salability.
Responsibilities:
- Gather necessary loan data to facilitate accurate calculations and aid in the underwriting process.
- Develop concise yet informative QC loan summaries for clients, emphasizing clear problem explanations.
- Categorize review findings based on severity and their impact on loan salability.
- Conduct both pre-closing and post-closing reviews.
Essential Job Functions & Requirements:
- In-depth understanding of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac lending guidelines.
- Familiarity with Alt A, Jumbo, Subprime, Proprietary Products, QM, and non-QM lending.
- Knowledge of FHA, VA, and USDA loan products.
- Ability to conduct desk reviews of loan appraisals or other valuation decisions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of five years' experience in the mortgage industry, preferably in Underwriting, Third Party Review Due Diligence, or QC/QA roles.
- High School Diploma/GED required; some college preferred. Bachelor's degree in finance or banking is advantageous.
- Proficiency in document recognition and analysis of income, asset, and credit documents.
- Strong attention to detail and precision in data entry.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in multitasking and navigating various programs and applications.
- Capable of working independently to manage workflow and priorities while maintaining confidentiality.
