At our site in Alexandria, Minnesota, we design, manufacture, test and provide service support of LGC, Biosearch Technologies laboratory instrumentation and consumables. Products produced and distributed from this location enable scientists to make the world a safer place and enables customers in areas such as developing and identifying new plant hybrids, testing and tracking of food products for food safety, and research to support human diagnostic testing. The Alexandria site represents a centre of excellence for Biosearch Technologies in the areas of Engineering, Manufacturing, and Field Service by supplying and supporting customers and team members around the world. Our services are accredited to the ISO 9001 quality standard.
Job Description The Quality Control (QC) Technician I focuses on the performance of analytical testing activities within the consumable product lines. They are responsible for testing intermediate and finished products, analysing the results of Quality Control testing and comparing results to established specification and/or customer requirements. In addition, they may perform testing and/or review of incoming goods.
Essential Functions: Completing analytical Quality Control activities for products in accordance with established procedures. Ensuring products tested adhere to established specifications and customer requirements for product release. Recommending product disposition and updating records associated with products and incoming goods for review by QC management and Quality Assurance (QA). Operating and maintaining standard equipment within the laboratory (e.g. DNA synthesizers, HPLCs, spectrophotometers, and Mass Spectrometers). Performing general laboratory maintenance and upkeep activities (e.g. loading buffers onto instruments, cleaning of the laboratory, etc.). Labeling products and incoming goods with an appropriate status label after product disposition (e.g. Approved, Rejected, etc). Assisting in verifying and documenting Quality Control activities and procedures. Propose new ideas to improve overall QC efficiency. Conduct required chemistry test procedures for validation of instrumentation prior to sale. Perform any required routine checks to keep laboratory equipment performing at a high level. Adhere to laboratory safety policies and work with the Laboratory Manager and Safety Coordinator to implement new safety procedures as required Qualifications Associate's degree or equivalent in a relevant scientific discipline is required, Bachelor's degree is preferred. 0-2 years of related post-degree laboratory experience.
