SOME (So Others Might Eat) is looking for a Security Officer (Unarmed) with a great attitude and a high level of commitment to keep our clients, staff, and community safe.
Position Description: The Public Safety Officer will provide public safety assistance and operational support for SOME, Inc. facilities. Officers will patrol multiple buildings/properties on foot.
Schedule: Shift (2) Saturday-Thursday 11pm-7:30am (40 hours per week)
Qualifications Required: High School Diploma or GED; 3-5 yrs. Public Safety experience; experience providing services to the homeless and/or underserved populations
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree; 3-5 yrs. Public Safety experience; experience providing services to the homeless and/or underserved populations
Required License/Certification: CPR/First-Aid; Must possess and maintain a vehicle and valid Driver's License (Mileage will be reimbursed)
Skills & Abilities: Must be able to complete incident reports using MS Office, including Word, Excel, and OutlookAbility to create and maintain a working relationship with the Metropolitan Police Department Ability to handle crisis situations and exhibit professionalism under pressureMust be able to lift up to 40 lbs. to assist with donations Must be able to stand for long periods of time and work outside in inclement weatherResilience to work with difficult situationsMust be able to respond quickly and appropriately in potentially hostile situations Conflict resolution skills; able to de-escalate clients Expected Contributions Public Safety Management Ensure SOME Inc. facilities are safe and clients, guests, and residents are in a secure, safe environment. Provide security details inside and outside of locations.Provide conflict mitigation and de-escalation conflict between clients, guests, residents, and or staff with the use of CPI/ Handle with Care or related de-escalation training.Develop and file incident reports/ SIR for medical, and police, issues, and special circumstances.Contact police when conflict escalates or violent behavior is exhibited by clients, guests, or residents.Operational Support Provide assistance when needed to Emergency ServicesNotify facilities immediately when a situation arises requiring immediate attention Make rounds at assigned facilities, document and report incidents, and provide a safe and secure presence.Reports to: Public Safety Officer, Senior Team Lead
