Job Summary This posting will be used to fill up to two (2) vacancies.
This position exists to provide technical and engineering assistance, procedural direction, and programmatic guidance regarding requirements of the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA)'s Public Assistance (PA) Program, with regard to the federal and state funding received as a result of a Major Disaster or Emergency Declaration. This position will assist eligible applicants by providing construction engineering expertise and FEMA Public Assistance Program guide
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications One (1) year of experience that demonstrates the following:
FEMA's Public Assistance Program and associated policies and procedures Design and construction practices and principles in road, sewer, and water systems designs, and storm water management Evaluating and measuring compliance with environmental policies, construction practices, materials and procedures sufficient to conduct inspections of contractors work and to identify improper work methods and material usage Mathematical skills sufficient to compute estimated quantities for a particular construction project This individual must have the ability to:
Read and understand construction plans to determine code and specification compliance Review and evaluate construction materials, tests and reports for contract and industry compliance Establish and maintain working relationships with federal, state, regional and local government officials Resolve problems and disagreements in the best interest of the applicants, state and FEMA Work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds Preferred Qualifications Completed FEMA IS Courses IS-100, IS-200, IS-700 and IS-800 Speak and write effectively and possess good interpersonal skills Physical Requirements Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others, and moving and transporting light objects frequently. Even though the weights being moved and transported may be a negligible amount, a job in this category may require positioning self to move to a significant degree or may involve maintaining a stationary position for extended periods.
