Each program is a learning opportunity. By promoting teamwork and personal expression while reinforcing core academic subjects like math, physics, art, and writing, students learn valuable lifelong skills in STEAM. Position Available: Part-time High School Art & Animation Instructor Reports to: Michelle Yan
Join our team at DigiPen Academy as we seek an experienced, reliable, and engaging individual to fill the Part-time High School Art & Animation Instructor role. In this position, you'll play a crucial role in teaching High School-aged WANIC students in Redmond, WA, as part of our dynamic instructional team.
At DigiPen Academy, in collaboration with WANIC (Washington Network for Innovative Careers) and the Lake Washington School District, we offer students a unique opportunity to cultivate skills vital for pursuing further education in fine art and animation. Our program is designed to equip students with a comprehensive skill set, covering traditional art techniques such as basic drawing, composition, line and value, and perspective drawing. We also introduce students to essential animation principles, including character concept and design, basic keyframe animation, motion studies, and both 2D and 3D computer animation. While enrolled at DigiPen Academy, students are eligible to earn college transfer credit, further enhancing their academic journey and opening doors to future opportunities.
Key Responsibilities: Teach high school students the fundamentals required for entry into a Fine Arts degree program at the collegiate level.Recruit students from local schools to enroll in the DigiPen WANIC program.Communicate with parents and school administrators regarding student progress in DigiPen's Technology Academy program.Maintain all necessary documentation for attendance, grading, and state approval.Contribute to the innovation and expansion of the current curriculum at DigiPen.Represent DigiPen at local school district events.Continuously grow and develop as a teacher. Qualifications Required Skills/Attributes: Intermediate knowledge of Fine Art and Animation.2+ years of experience in Production Art and/or Animation industry.Understanding of the Art and Animation development pipeline.Ability to explain complex concepts in a simplified manner.Highly motivated, dynamic personality with a passion for learning and education.Service-oriented attitude and ability to find innovative solutions.Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.Basic project management skills.Authorized to work in the US.In-person teaching, with online classes when necessary.Preferred Skills/Attributes: Teaching and/or training experience.3+ years of proven production art development.BA or MA in Fine Art, Art Design, or related field, or equivalent industry experience.Solid understanding and experience in implementing project-based art.Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.WA Teacher Certification.Upon acceptance of an employment offer with DigiPen Institute of Technology, prospective employees will undergo a mandatory background check and 5-panel, non-THC drug screen as part of the hiring process. Wage Range:$25.00 - $35.00 per hour
