Job Summary:
Are you passionate about ensuring accurate and compliant coding in healthcare? We're seeking a Provider Coding Educator to join our team. In this role, you'll play a crucial part in educating providers and staff on proper coding practices, conducting coding reviews, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Educate providers and coding staff on proper CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
Conduct periodic coding reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Address coding questions from physicians and coding staff promptly.
Collaborate with supervisors/managers on billing-related issues.
Shadow providers and coding staff to confirm accurate coding and documentation.
Engage in continuous learning through workshops, seminars, and webinars.
Recommend billing procedure changes to ensure compliance with regulations.
Obtain and maintain instructor status for relevant coding curriculum.
Stay updated on state and federal coding regulations.
Participate in compliance meetings and audits to identify areas for improvement.
Contribute to coding improvement initiatives during Accounts Receivable meetings.
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities:
This is a non-management position reporting to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field.
3 years of experience in Professional Billing Coding or combined Coding/Billing.
Required Certifications/Registrations/Licenses:
Certified Professional Coder (CPC).
In Lieu of the Above Minimum Requirements:
Associate's Degree with 5 years of coding or coding/billing experience.
High School Diploma with 7 years of coding or coding/billing experience.
Other Required Skills and Experience:
Proficient in data entry.
