Are you an experienced professional in the steel industry with a knack for precision in estimating and project management? We're seeking a Project Estimator to join our team in Farmville, NC. In this role, you'll be responsible for analyzing data to prepare cost estimates for construction projects and ensuring their successful completion. Key Responsibilities: Estimating: Review construction documents and comprehend the scope of work to prepare accurate bids. Collaborate with clients, vendors, inter-departmental personnel, and foremen to formulate estimates and resolve potential issues. Execute take-offs of construction documents and obtain pricing for materials and subcontractor bids. Prepare detailed cost estimates for projects, even in cases where standard pricing is unavailable. Engage in discussions with engineers, owners, contractors, and subcontractors to adjust and refine cost estimates as necessary. Assess the cost-effectiveness of products, projects, or services, continuously tracking actual costs in relation to initial estimates. Develop and maintain a database of resource information including products, vendors, subcontractors, and relevant government requirements. Conduct on-site visits to gather information about access, drainage, topography, and the availability of essential services such as water and electricity, considering any site conditions that may impact project costs. Deliver complete and accurate written estimates to customers. Project Manager: Collaborate with the Operations Manager, Shop Manager, and Engineer to develop and maintain a comprehensive project schedule, ensuring effective communication throughout the project. Coordinate all subcontractor deliverables and schedules in alignment with the project schedule. Work closely with the Purchasing Specialist to manage material vendors, ensuring their alignment with the project schedule. Efficiently manage project site logistics, encompassing customer notifications of work dates, site access, material laydown, crane access, and temporary facilities planning. Monitor administrative activities for the project, encompassing contract terms, subcontract agreements, insurance submittals, vendor submittals, accurate recording of manhours and phase codes, and timely delivery of accounting-related paperwork. Track project phases against the initial project estimate and provide feedback to the Operations Manager. Identify and address issues related to design, fabrications, vendor equipment, and more, promptly notifying relevant parties and coordinating corrective actions. Maintain a strong working knowledge of all project plans, specifications, Owner Contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, daily correspondence, shop drawings, submittals, and other project-related documents, while keeping a complete and accurate set of as-builts. Conduct inspections and reviews of the project to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, building and safety codes. Review and approve subcontractor and vendor payment applications, as well as miscellaneous invoices. Promptly notify the Operations Manager and accounting department of any changes to the contract scope of work and produce change order requests. Modify the project schedule to include additional work resulting from approved change orders or owner-authorized time and materials (T&M) work. Coordinate changes to manpower requirements, start/completion dates, and other project details with the Operations Manager, ensuring alignment with the company's schedule. Assume responsibility for the quality of Company and subcontractor work, promptly notifying the Operations Manager, Purchasing Agent, Shop Manager, and others of any quality issues. Ensure that all job sites are clean and safe, and adhere to all company policies and procedures. Ensure the timely completion of projects through effective project scheduling, material expediting, and the management of material and document submittals/approvals. Manage the project closeout process, including punch list and project start-up. Follow up with customers on all projects to ensure project completion and satisfaction.
