NIKA is hiring for a Project Accountant to support our Accounting and Finance department at our NIKA HQ office in Rockville, MD!

Job Duties and Responsibilities Updates accounting system billing and revenue recognition to reflect contract modifications
Tracks project billing and funding utilization
Prepares invoices for customers and, following customers' procedures, submits said invoices for approvals and payments
Posts payments received to the accounting system and manages AR aging balances
Perform project profitability analyses, troubleshooting variances and providing commentary for job performance
Works closely with Project Managers and other field personnel with reporting, training, and analysis
Employs problem-solving skills and financial analysis
Develops working knowledge of government contract requirements
All work in compliance with FAR, GAAP, and company cost accounting policies and procedures
Assists with special projects as needed and performs other duties as required.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Education and Experience:
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent
5-8+ years of progressive accounting responsibilities
Minimum two years in project/contract accounting, government contract accounting preferred
Working knowledge of GAAP; knowledge of FAR and CAS preferred
Experience with UNANET is a plus
Advanced MS Excel a plus
