Description: This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Program Representative 2: Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Site Coordinator position for the College of Business at Oregon State University ( OSU ). This is a limited duration appointment expected to last approximately 1 year from the appointment begin date.
This position in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance ( VITA ) program will be a member of the Oregon State University College of Business. The incumbent will report directly to the VITA Program Manager. The VITA Site Coordinator will serve as the on-the-ground site coordinator of a specific OSU VITA site. VITA is a collaborative venture between the College of Business, Oregon State University Extension, and the Internal Revenue Service, designed to complete federal and state tax returns for low to moderate income individuals and families in Oregon. The VITA program engages with outreach to expand services of Black, Indigenous, Pacific Islander and Hispanic communities in all areas of Oregon. VITA is funded by a grant from the Oregon Department of Human Services. The purpose of this position is to provide a range of support and leadership to enable VITA program growth and sustainment. The position will involve extensive coordination of personnel and operations, including VITA workspace identification and development; Process implementation; OSU Extension partnership facilitation; Volunteer recruitment and training; and Marketing the VITA Program to the public in coordination with OSU Extension. The VITA Site Coordinator is responsible for volunteer recruitment and development, working to provide service equity, obtaining and overseeing site access, ensuring VITA processes/rules/policies are followed and tailored towards the context and size of their site, reviewing site volunteer work, generating return preparation volume (by managing volunteers and by personally preparing/reviewing returns) and meeting the needs of diverse communities. Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty): Four years of technical- or professional-level experience analyzing or advising and/or instructing the public concerning specific programs or processes, monitoring a program, or performing participant reviews. Two years of the experience must have been comparable to a Program Representative 1 which involves monitoring, representing, and reviewing programs.
Requirements : Must have or be able to obtain IRS Tax Training/Certification within 1 month of hire date and maintain the certification throughout employment. Experience working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated success working as a member of a collaborative team. Demonstrated commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity. Proficient use of computers, including word processing, generating reports, developing presentations, utilizing email, and searching and retrieving information through the internet. This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
Type: Nonstandard hours (e.g., evening and/or weekend site operations and community engagement events). Hours will fluctuate depending on time of year.
