Position Summary & Responsibilities Position Summary: This position is responsible for the planning, administration, coordination, evaluation, and the development, oversight and delivery of Alzheimer's State Plan. This individual is to assist with development of a coordinated and collaborative public health systems approach to address Alzheimer's/Dementia through the implementation of primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention activities, as well as addressing the impacts of caregiving for persons with dementia. This employee will work closely with the Area Agencies on Aging (AAA), other state agencies, Stakeholders, and partnerships such as Long-Term Care Ombudsman, Alzheimer's Association, DCF, Tribal Organizations, and other partners to implement strategic, multiyear plans for administration of programs and services for older Kansans. The position ensures that all program and funding procedures comply with federal and state laws and regulations. Approves and administers budgets and collaborates within the agency and with external partners to achieve program goals. The program manager is responsible for overseeing data collection and reporting procedures, as well as quality assurance protocols. Interprets and applies state and federal laws and regulations for development of agency policy and program oversight. Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: Assist the Aging Services Director with oversight of the Alzheimer's State Plan Coordinate quality dementia services in the state to ensure dementia capability. Assist with identifying and analyzing dementia related data to coordinate with the State of Kansas government agencies to improve public health outcomes. Increase awareness and create dementia specific training to facilitate the provision of access to quality coordinated care for individuals with dementia in the most integrated setting. Support the provision of dementia specific staff training across all relevant government agencies which may include law enforcement, Aging agencies, and others as identified. Assist in expand resources for dementia specific research and services. Assist in eliminating or preventing duplication of services Assist in collaborating with community stakeholders and resources to identify proactive and effective solutions. Assist the Aging Services Director in creating policy and/or polices for dementia/Alzheimer's program Build and maintain effective working relationships with other agencies and organizations to ensure coordination and support of dementia services. Maintain and apply knowledge of current developments and trends in the assigned area of expertise by reading appropriate journals, books and other professional literature and attending related conferences, seminars and training. Contract Management Assist in identifying and/or manage grants, contracts and other facets associated with dementia services. Update annual grant agreements Prepare and submit reports and other requested information to Financial and Information Services Commission (FISC) by stated deadlines Disseminate grant-related information, upon request, to appropriate state and federal entities Assist the Aging Services Director with preparing, writing, and submit grant applications, amendments, quarterly progress reports, annual grant-related reports, and financial reports by imposed deadlines Other Completes special projects and performs other duties as assigned including but not limited to ensuring the agency is adequately staffed during and immediately following natural and/or manmade disasters, infectious disease outbreaks, and/or acts of terrorism. Assists other employees in the work unit in accomplishing assignments as necessary. Qualifications Special Qualifications/Education Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in human services field Ability to communicate respectfully and effectively with diverse populations Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills Experience in creating collaborations between public and private organizations Demonstrated experience in grant writing and reporting, including the ability to write, review, and interpret technical and/or federal/state statutes and regulations. Experience with data collection, analysis, and reporting, including the creation and utilization of spreadsheets Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite In state and out of state travel required Valid driver's license Preferred Qualifications :
Master's degree in human services field Two years' experience presenting educational training sessions for professional and consumer audiences through classroom, group or online instruction Strong organizational and general research skills Experience in providing information through oral presentations or written communication, including the use of PowerPoint and Word to develop training materials. Experience in providing trainings, public education programs, and conducting question-and-answer sessions. Knowledge of dementia programs and services Understanding of public health systems and surveillance Two years of experience in providing direction necessary to implement the objectives of an agency, program or organizational unit.
