Summary of Position:  The Dental Program Director (PD) is responsible for the overall effectiveness of the Dental program, as well as overseeing the management of the core courses at the Clearwater campus, and directly supervises the faculty who report to them. As such, the PD is responsible for the leadership and administration of assigned courses and faculty teams and overall program outcomes. The PD informs a variety of Education department and institutional affairs including program effectiveness plans, advisory boards, faculty council and committees, taskforce meetings, targeted student outreach, satisfactory academic progress, accreditation/certification, policy and procedure adherence, as well as faculty and staff hiring, supervision and development. In addition, the Program Director leads the retention, graduation, and placement success of associate degree and diploma programs, and effectively and efficiently with the Senior Clinical Program Director, General Education, Learner Services, Career Services, and other departments as appropriate to problem-solve and execute data-driven solutions to increase program health, curriculum viability, instructor performance, and student achievement. Program Directors leverage their work history and connections in the related employment field to attract Advisory Board members and other career-related information to help inform the strategic planning for their program.
The Program Director reports to the Senior Clinical Program Director.
UMA is a nonprofit healthcare educational institution with a national presence. Headquartered in Tampa, Florida and founded in 1994, UMA offers content-rich, interactive online programs as well as hands-on training at our Clearwater, Florida campus.

Partners effectively with Education department program teams to refine UMA's approach to core curriculum, assessment and remediation as well as Program, Student and Faculty Affairs including Taskforce Meetings, Advisory Boards, UMA Cares, Disability Services, Faculty Training and Support, Summits as scheduled, and Commencement.  Partners with General Education Chair to support associate degree program vision and strategy as it pertains to general education and elective courses. Reviews and analyzes key performance indicators to assess course health, curriculum viability, instructor performance, and student achievement of the program. Progress monitors student performance, engagement, persistence, and growth to facilitate problem-solving and data-driven solutions to increase program health, curriculum viability, instructor performance, and student achievement.  Leads cross content collaboration, team infrastructure, and effective problem-solving to develop action plans focused on the quality of the program's curriculum and instruction as well as multi-tiered supports/interventions. Identifies and advocates for support needed to ensure student progress that facilitates, fosters, and promotes prevention and early intervention practices supported by collaborative efforts between instructors, academic specialists (online campus) and advisors for students in core program courses.  Assumes leadership role in faculty meetings, Education department leadership meetings, taskforce meetings, advisory boards and other working groups as assigned.  Models online and classroom-based educational best practices, effective teaching/coaching techniques and collegial, and positive environment that promotes excellence in teaching and service.  Provides leadership for an effective curriculum development and refinement process which incorporates feedback from a range of stakeholders including program leadership, faculty, advisory boards, taskforce members, subject matter experts, curriculum team leadership, and cross department partners.  Performs other duties or special projects as assigned/required. Technical: Uses MS office suite, particularly Word and Excel at a professional level of proficiency Works proficiently within the learning management system and student information systems.  Navigates effectively through reports, graphs, and data to understand data trends, analyze data for root cause, and make recommendations for additional data needed for review.  Team Member Leadership Maintains supervisory knowledge of their program by establishing and enhancing academic and professional networks, attending conferences and workshops, participating in professional associations and staying abreast of emerging issues and trends related to education and online learning.  Oversees assigned Faculty in accordance with approved rubrics and faculty expectations and supports faculty in their development and career progression to ensure a high performing faculty team.  Monitors staffing needs to assist with recruiting full-time instructors, adjunct faculty, program leadership, industry subject matter experts, distance education specialists, and advisory board members.  Builds a strong culture of accountability and high performance Supports the effective onboarding of new faculty through collaboration with the Faculty Affairs team and individual connections with new instructors.  Sets clear expectations for all Team Members. Analyze goals, activities and results to determine action plans to improve individual and team performance per stated performance management guidelines.  Ensures that UMA values are being demonstrated and policies are being followed.  Financial Leadership Maintains awareness of the organization budget cycle, priorities, and processes to prioritize faculty and other team requests for improvements to align with financial timelines Ensures the execution of objectives and tasks necessary to meet short and long-term financial goals and planned ROI for new initiatives.  Support Institutional Initiatives Keeps current on UMA goals, objectives, and progress Engages in UMA sponsored activities and initiatives as appropriate Leads with courage in support of change initiatives that impact organization Manages and assists in coordinating efforts between departments within UMA Provides feedback and input Compliance: Demonstrates knowledge of, and carefully follows all applicable federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the Department of Education, accrediting agencies, CIE, and internal UMA policies and procedures.  Effectively communicates compliance requirements to students and other staff as appropriate and quickly escalates any compliance concerns to the Compliance department.  Work Experience, Skills & Abilities: Minimum Requirements: Master's Degree or combination of Bachelor's degree and equivalent experience in healthcare or related field, as appropriate to the program content.  Administrative and/or supervisory experience with teams in the delivery of academic and/or social services.  An industry certification/licensure if consistent with employment in the healthcare field of instruction (all certifications/licensures must remain active and be maintained as required by State and/or accrediting commissions). Proven track record of delivering successful results with non-traditional students.  Proficient verbal and written English Able to support a diverse and inclusive work environment Five (5) or more years of experience in the field of Dentistry. Preferred Requirements: Master's Degree in healthcare or related field, as appropriate to the program content.  Three (3) or more years of administrative and/or supervisory experience with teams in the delivery of academic and/or social services.  Online teaching experience in an accredited post-secondary institution.  Three (3) or more years of experience in online education or proprietary industry.  Five (5) years or more experience as a Dental Assistant with expanded functions.
