The Program Specialist, Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) will provide leadership, supervision, and managerial oversight to the EFNEP Program Assistants in Franklin County. Assist in preparing budgets and monitoring expenses. Explore new areas of collaboration within targeted areas and recommend new programs for EFNEP. Interview, hire, train, and evaluate Program Assistants and support staff for the EFNEP project in the Franklin County office. Act as a liaison to Area Leaders, county stewards, Educators, faculty, and community organizations regarding EFNEP. Travel frequently within the region to observe and/or teach Program Assistants. Collaborate as part of the state-wide EFNEP team to develop and implement webinars, trainings, and conferences for EFNEP staff. This is a grant-funded position which is renewable annually by the sponsor agency and by OSU Extension.

Minimum Education Required
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Advanced degree may be desirable. 5 years of relevant experience required. 8-12 years of relevant experience preferred.
Additional Information: Promote EFNEP to community-based agencies that work with the EFNEP target population. Monitor EFNEP Program Assistant small group outreach. Interview, hire, train and coach Program Assistants. Train EFNEP Program Assistants in selected competencies including outreach, nutrition content, teaching methods, and learning principles. Observe EFNEP Program Assistant teaching in the community and provide feedback. Conduct on-going coaching and annual performance reviews of Program Assistants. Assist in preparing budgets and monitoring expenses for the program.
Participate on the Statewide EFNEP team to explore new areas of training needs and recommend new programs to meet these needs. Plan professional development opportunities and use annual evaluation results for planning future professional development programs. Develop and implement webinar trainings, conferences, and materials for Program Assistants. Participate in regularly
scheduled EFNEP educator/Program Specialist meetings on OSU main campus in Columbus and via conference calls, in OSU Extension county staff meetings, and in Extension Advisory Committee meetings as needed.
Participate in establishing and implementing local program and personnel policies/guidelines as they relate to Ohio EFNEP, following NIFA EFNEP and OSU Extension guidelines. Collaborate and communicate with local OSU Extension Educators and Area Leaders so that EFNEP programs, policies, procedures and services are known and are integrated into OSU Extension program delivery and outcomes. Act as a liaison to faculty, local government, and organizations inquiring about EFNEP, including programs, policies, procedures, and services.
The offer for this position will fall within this range $58,100 - $77,450 based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
