Job summary
The University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication (SOJC) is seeking a visionary leader to join our Advertising program as the Director.The Director will develop innovative strategies for student success and address issues of creative mastery, social issues, and brand responsibility.This role requires extensive industry experience and the ability to bridge university-to-industry knowledge.
Job seniority: director level and above
Responsibilities
• Lead career readiness programs for students• Oversee Advertising undergraduate curriculum and course development• Support and collaborate with advertising faculty, SOJC staff, and SOJC leadership• Develop initiatives for experiential learning and student success• Build strong connections between the university and the advertising industry• Teach up to four (4) courses per year• Manage advertising area budgets, assessment, admissions, and area meeting agendas
Requirements
• A master's degree in design, advertising, journalism, communications, graphic design, or related field (or significant professional experience)• Substantial professional experience in advertising or a related field (12 years)• Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds• Knowledge of curriculum development and instruction
