The Peekskill Effect Pigments Site has a portfolio of more than 500 different and unique products that are manufactured on upwards of 30 different equipment unit operations where 30-40 different products are produced each month. The Production Supervisor is responsible for ensuring there is a minimal loss of time and material during each production campaign and that all work is completed safely, timely and effectively ensuring that the production schedule is achieved with minimum product quality variation from standards. Supervision responsibilities also include laboratory and maintenance personnel during off shift and weekend hours, as the production unit operates a continuous seven-day operation. All supervision is within the framework of a collective bargaining agreement.Responsibilities:Accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the Production department through active and effective leadership of employees.Understands Environmental, Health, Safety (EHS) and Quality Policies performing job responsibilities safely, while keeping in mind the environmental impact of their decision making. Ensures the same within the department by actively working with employees on JSA creation and implementation, procedure reviews, environmental reporting & inspecting, and auditing & observing the process and employees for improvements.Ensures all safety equipment available on plant floor is in good operating order and up to date through active management of equipment inspection program completion, including but not limited to fire suppression systems, eye wash and safety showers, etc.Leads daily pre-shift meetings to review safety messages, communicate work assignments, review production status, and set priorities for the day.Maintains time and attendance program for hourly personnel to track hours worked, overtime, holidays, absences, and other matters impacting payroll and compliance with site attendance policy. This includes ensuring adequate staffing levels for upcoming shifts through the scheduling of vacation and overtime as appropriate.Ensures all operating procedures pertaining to their area of responsibility are followed by the operators.Identify potential areas needing additional training by the operators and follow up to ensure such training is provided in a timely manner. Verify the effectiveness of the training through routine employee evaluations.Through direct supervision of operators and indirectly by working with other groups, meet our established product quality targets. When nonconforming products are produced, proactively get involved in, and provide information for, root cause investigations.Ensures departmental procedures are current and accurate and that all direct reports have completed all necessary training and possess qualifications to perform the work assigned.Sets/maintains high standard of housekeeping within the department, monitoring through documented housekeeping audits, making assignments as needed to address deficiencies, and ensuring all areas of the plant are covered via site Housekeeping Program.Reviews all daily operator production reports and inspection sheets for proper equipment operation and follows up with operators as necessary.Submits work notifications to address repairs, participating in the prioritization of maintenance needs and preparing accurate safe work permits and other permits as needed for Maintenance to complete the work safely.Submits complete and thorough written production logs documenting the activities of the shift to communicate issues with peers and all levels of the organization as appropriate on a timely basis. Completes daily production report detailing machine efficiency / downtime reporting for each unit operation in scope of position.Supervises daily safety issues in the department, documenting safety incidents through the Accident/Incident Management Program and manages all cases promptly and thoroughly.Education & Experience:HS Diploma or EquivalentLeadership skills that focus on coaching and developing team members, driving teamwork and accountability, and promoting world class housekeeping and safety standards.Values EHS principles demonstrating personal accountability resulting in a 'Zero-Incident Mindset'.Strong interpersonal skills to establish effective relationships quickly.Experience in working as part of a team with a strong technical aptitude and drive for results.Proficiency in a variety of computer applications including inventory, production reporting and maintenance system (SAP), payroll systems, and spreadsheets.Preferred:Associates or two-year Engineering/ Business / Management degree. is preferred, but not required.Process knowledge and/or first line supervisory experience.Salary Range for this position is $87K - $113KWe offer a range of market-competitive total rewards that include merit increases, paid holidays, Paid Time Off, medical, dental, vision, short and long term disability benefits, 401(k)+match and life insurance.
