Green Bay Packaging is looking for a motivated, forward thinking Production Supervisor who is geeked at the notion of engaging employees and driving quality production of corrugated packaging. The Production Supervisor is responsible for the safety, quality, training, development, and productivity of direct reports on their shift. Directly supervises all production employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Green Bay Packaging policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; performance appraisals; rewarding and disciplining employees; conflict resolution; team building; coaching and leading employees to improve; addressing complaints and resolving problems; documentation; and setting an example of superior behavior, attitude, and performance.  Maintain quality, efficiencies, and production levels set by management. Communicate these standards to your employees. Report quality concerns to Plant Superintendents and Operations Manager. Assist in determining quality guidelines. Establish high morale within your department by showing fairness, consistency, and an interest in employee problems. Maintain confidentiality. Coordinate with Production Superintendents and Maintenance Supervisor on any repairs or preventive maintenance done in the department. Keep Plant Manager informed of problems or situations that may affect the performance of your department. Enforce corrective action procedures when applicable, and conduct meetings with the violating employees and applicable Manager, if necessary. Conduct weekly Production/Safety meetings with departmental personnel. Communicate with other supervisors to avoid problems between shift changes. Ensure compliance with Green Bay Packaging policies pertaining to methods, procedures, records, reports, conduct, etc., of all employees under your direction. Recommend training needs to Production Superintendents and / or Operations Manager. Maintain integrity regarding confidential and proprietary information. Ensure that the customer is the first priority. Enforce safe work practices and lead safety discussions. Provide direction on producing quality product to personnel. Lead department meetings, to include quality, productivity, process improvements, and safety. Strong technical skills. Superior time management skills including the ability to manage multiple issues concurrently and the ability to lead effective and efficient meetings.  Ability to develop and influence personnel. Teaching skills in order to function as an effective trainer for employees. Strong leadership skills. Superior time management including the ability to manage multiple issues concurrently and the ability to lead effective and efficient meetings. Ability to solve process and production issues independently. Employee relations skills including active listening, performance appraisal and feedback methods, conflict resolution, positive motivational skills, and coaching and delegating techniques. Experience with lean manufacturing techniques. Excellent written and oral communication skills and computer knowledge. Must be able to work shift work - 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required  At least two (2) years in a manufacturing environment is required. Prior supervisory experience is required; preferably in the corrugated packaging industry. Work Environment & Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or carry loads of up to 50 lbs. The noise level in the work environment is loud. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration. Employees may be required to work more than 40 hours per week and other than normal business hours, such as holidays, evenings, and weekends as business demands.
