This role will be instrumental in steering strategic initiatives aimed at product prioritization, market expansion, and pioneering new product development endeavors.
Role Overview:
The Product Manager at The Specialty Manufacturing Co. will play a pivotal role in shaping the company's product portfolio and market strategy. This position will involve analyzing current markets, identifying growth opportunities, assessing product gaps, and leading new product development initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong blend of strategic vision, market analysis skills, industry knowledge and product management expertise.
Key Responsibilities: Conduct market research and analysis to identify current market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscapes. Prioritize markets and segments based on strategic objectives, growth potential, and alignment with company capabilities. Assess existing product offerings to identify gaps, opportunities for improvement, or areas for new product development. Conduct comprehensive cost and margin analysis to inform strategic decision-making and optimize profitability across product portfolio. Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, sales, marketing, and operations teams to define product requirements and specifications. Lead the product development process from ideation to commercialization, ensuring timely and successful launches. Develop and maintain product roadmaps, documentation, pricing strategies, and go-to-market plans. Oversee the entire product life cycle, from conception to end-of-life, including implementing an efficient end-of-life process to manage product discontinuation, inventory depletion, and customer transition strategies. Assist in demand planning and forecasting efforts, utilizing data analysis and market insights to accurately forecast product demand, optimize inventory levels, and support production planning and scheduling activities. Monitor product performance, customer feedback, and market trends to make data-driven decisions and adjustments as needed. Collaborate with marketing to develop sales enablement tools and content for catalog, literature, website and other digital content as needed. Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, including customers and industry partners, to stay informed and connected with market dynamics. Stay abreast of industry developments, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes to inform product strategy and innovation efforts. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or related field. 5+ years of experience in product management, preferably in the manufacturing or industrial sector. Proven track record of successfully launching and managing products from concept to market. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data, financial metrics, and customer insights. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Strategic thinker with the ability to prioritize initiatives, set goals, and drive results in a dynamic environment. Knowledge of product development processes, methodologies, and best practices. Experience with market segmentation, competitive analysis, and market positioning strategies. Familiarity with any of the following industries a plus: Water Filtration, Beverage Dispensing, Marine/RV, Chemical Dispensing, Automotive, Technology
