Full job description Join Summerset Marine Construction, the premier provider of lakefront services in Southeastern Wisconsin, as our new Product Development Manager. We're on the lookout for a seasoned professional with a robust mechanical and electrical background, along with stellar project management skills, to spearhead innovation and streamline our product development processes. You'll play a pivotal role in collaborating with cross-functional teams to elevate product designs, manage projects, and uphold the utmost standards of quality and efficiency across our entire product lineup.
Key Responsibilities: Lead initiatives for product design enhancements, prototyping, and customization tailored for large-scale end users, with a keen focus on optimizing design and components to enhance production efficiency. Conduct thorough analyses to evaluate feasibility and develop design proposals aligned with end-user needs and manufacturing capabilities. Take charge of a dynamic project portfolio, including modernizing and simplifying legacy designs, while ensuring adherence to budget, timelines, and quality benchmarks. Drive project management activities encompassing budgeting, scheduling, and seamless communication with diverse departments such as Industrial Engineers, Production Engineers, Finance, and Sales. Collaborate closely with the CEO and Engineers to gather design specifications, foster innovation, and refine product performance and manufacturability. Supervise or assist in testing, validation, fabrication of fixtures and prototypes, and preparation of comprehensive test reports to guarantee product integrity and compliance with industry standards. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution. At least 3-5 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing/operations, with a focus on product development and project management. Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks is indispensable for executing design and modeling tasks proficiently. Robust background in mechanical and electrical engineering, with expertise in manufacturing processes such as hydraulics, electrical systems, and working with aluminum and steel materials. Exceptional communication skills and a knack for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams. Proven track record of fostering innovation, driving process improvements, and achieving successful project outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
