We are seeking a Product Developer to build on our Angel Soft® bath tissue ideal balance of softness and strength at our Technical Center in Neenah, WI. This role will help you deeper your technical expertise on product design, use your creativity to contribute to an innovation pipeline, and embrace a consumer-first lens in driving product change. The Georgia-Pacific retail bath tissue product development team leads the technical development of our Angel Soft® and Quilted Northern bath tissue products. We are entrepreneurs who innovate daily and collaborate cross-functionally to design products and execute projects that create value for our consumers, customers, communities, and company. What You Will Do Design and Experimentation: Design, experiment, evaluate, and execute alternatives to support long-term product roadmaps based on understanding of technical capabilities, consumer/customer unmet needs and market trends Consumer Focus: Connect market and consumer needs to product performance and design alternatives and set technical specifications/limits on final product design Collaboration: Work with business stakeholders, consumer research, quality, operations, and our technology platform to drive year-over-year cost/product improvements in tissue commercialization by maximizing volume, minimizing waste, and optimizing products in the portfolio Technology Development: Partner with our technology platform to invent/implement new papermaking, converting, and packaging technologies into product roadmaps from lab scale to pilot scale to commercial feasibility Risk Management: Mitigate technical risk by designing and analyzing experiments, coordinating and conducting mill trials, and collecting consumer/market feedback on new tissue product designs Problem Solving: Solve complex problems by exercising critical thinking and approaching data analysis and potential recommended paths forward with a creative and open-minded approach Product Support: Provide technical support on product claims, data substantiation, intellectual property, and overall product points of view to our business leaders, operations, manufacturing, sales, and marketing teams Mentoring: Support developing early career co-workers and interns through mentorship and coaching Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) Bachelor's degree or higher in Physical Science or Engineering OR in lieu of a degree, progressive product development experience in paper products defining product requirements and specifications Experience in product development, including defining problems and opportunities, designing and conducting experiments, analyzing trial results, and identifying next steps Experience working in an R&D environment with demonstrated results independently leading commercialization efforts of new products, product development activities, and scaling up to commercial feasibility Willing and able to travel an average of 25%, both domestic and international What Will Put You Ahead Master's Degree or higher in Engineering or Paper Science Experience in project management Experience with fragrances Five (5) or more years' experience in product development (preferably in paper products) Experience in tissue, towel, or napkin product development, papermaking, or converting Experience defining and executing product strategy and innovation pipelines
