Cenovus is currently looking for a Process Safety Engineer for the Superior, WI location. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Health and Safety , the successful candidate, will be responsible for leading and executing process safety policies, foster a continuous improvement culture focused on the process safety, and operational integrity within the Refinery. Including but not limited to ensuring compliance with corporate operational integrity management systems, focusing on areas such as management of change, process hazard analysis, layers of protection analysis, and active field engagement.
Responsibilities:
Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of process safety policies within the refinery. Provide guidance and support to cross-functional teams in the execution of process safety initiatives. Facilitate the management of change process, ensuring timely and accurate assessments of modifications to processes, equipment, and procedures. Collaborate with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to identify and mitigate potential hazards associated with changes. Conduct and facilitate PHAs and LOPAs to identify and evaluate potential process safety hazards. Work closely with teams to implement risk reduction measures and validate the effectiveness of existing layers of protection. Perform regular field walks to verify and update P&IDs, ensuring accuracy and reflecting current plant nfigurations. Engage with field personnel to understand operational challenges, provide support, and reinforce a strong safety culture. Foster positive and constructive interactions with field personnel to encourage reporting of safety concerns and ensure effective communication. Collaborate with teams to address identified issues, implementing corrective actions as needed. Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent 5+ years of experience in refinery operations with a focus on process safety. In-depth knowledge of process safety principles, including management of change, PHA, and LOPA. Demonstrated experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve safety and operational objectives. Preferred
Bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited institution Refinery related certifications or licenses, process safety knowledge within a refinery setting. Familiarity with corporate Cenovus Operational Integrity Management Systems (COIMS) and their application in refinery settings. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with field personnel. Relevant certifications in process safety management or related areas are advantageous.
