Since 1986, TDK Components USA, Inc. has been distributing capacitors to customers in North and South America, and has recently started distribution to Europe. The starting pay for this position is $60,000/yr.
Job Summary: The PMG Engineer 1 is responsible for ensuring the high reliability, availability and uptime of production related equipment and processes. This is achieved by practicing Gemba, analyzing data trends and maintenance events to identify areas for improvement and executing an action plan to address maintenance systems and production processes. Interaction with all departments is required to address specific needs and requirements.This position will report directly to the PMG Manager. Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from a four-year College or University in a related Engineering discipline. Three to five years related manufacturing engineering experience and/or equivalent educational experience or training. Superior analytical skills, communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional groups. Knowledge of principles of lean manufacturing. Six Sigma Green Belt certification is preferred. Knowledge of Japanese manufacturing principles (Kaizen, 5S, Genichi, Gembutsu, Monozokuri) required Previous application of Problem-Solving Techniques and tools (DMAIC, FTA, 5-Why) is required Proficiency in Microsoft applications is required (ex.: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) Proficiency in Solid Works CAD software and 3D printing operation is preferred Good mechanical skills and experience working with precision machinery. Essential Skills and Abilities: Ability to track, analyze and report key maintenance metrics. Must be proficient in the use of queries, databases, word processors, and spreadsheets for extracting, analyzing, and reporting critical information. Ability to combine Gemba and analytics to transform data into improvement actions. Must be effective in problem-solving through the use of a structured method such as DMAIC, the scientific method, the 8D approach, etc. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with team members. Ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization. Skilled in process mapping to determine key inputs, necessary control levels, and checks to ensure high reliability of production equipment. Familiar with TDK's MLCC manufacturing processes, product quality and cultural requirements. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent presentation skills. Familiarity with Kaizen concepts and the use of fundamental QC tools. Ability to evaluate plant / machine layouts and Engineer the most efficient solutions. Ability to plan, organize, schedule, and direct the activities of multiple complex projects. Ability to take direction, identify problems, develop solutions, and conduct analysis independently and in collaboration with others. Essential Duties / Job Responsibilities: Complete training and engaged in continuing education to become the resident expert of TCU's production machinery. Maintains contact and frequently engages with TDK-Japan Process Engineering to optimize TCU production machinery.
Monitors, analyzes maintenance data, and engages in daily Gemba to identify performance trends that may lead to machine downtime and/or poor quality Supports the PMG manager in engaging in preventive action activities and to address negative performance trends.
Leads activities in manufacturing to investigate, resolve machine related issues through structured problem solving and direct comparison with similar equipment. Periodically confirms the effectiveness of previous preventive/corrective actions and prevents reoccurrence of previous failures.
Works closely with Engineers in Production and Quality to Engineer solutions to address poor product/process quality.
Conducts periodic reviews of the Equipment Instructions to identify discrepancies in the actual operation vs. document contents. Revises the Equipment Instructions where changes in procedures are necessary to ensure machine and equipment reliability.
Gathers data, creates measures and maintains visualization of PMG performance in the process to enhance feedback to the Production Maintenance Group.
Supports the department's Key Measures and company Business Plan Objectives.
Performs other work-related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Quality Manager or other management personnel.
Supports new machine and process implementation following APQP requirements.
