ASARCO LLC is a fully integrated miner, smelter, and refinery of copper in the United States with over 2,800 employees spanning across 5 sites in Arizona and Texas.We are looking for motivated students with a strong interest in the mining industry. Our internship program is 10 weeks long, in which you will receive important industry training and get involved in meaningful real-world projects like planning a program, designing a process, or implementing technology. The culmination of your program will include an opportunity to present your work to management at ASARCO & Grupo Mexico.Position: Process Control/Automation Engineer InternDuties:Help on various automation and control issues that arise during operations. Help redlining and updating control system drawings and documents with current installed base Provide engineering assistance to multiple projects, including modifications to automation control systems based on Rockwell Automation/Allen Bradley platform. Assist with control system parts inventory management. Make presentations to in-house engineering and management groups as required. Evaluate assigned field problems (real or theoretical) and report back as required. Meet everyday safety goals. Responsible for executing, supporting, and enforcing the Company's Environmental, Health and Safety program as required by OIS policy, directives, and principles. Education Requirements:Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university on a full-time basis. Must be a Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Graduate level. Must be majoring in Electrical, Electronics, Control and Automation, or closely related Engineering discipline.Knowledge & Skill Requirements:Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
