The Brydon Group is a private equity firm based in Washington DC that partners with outstanding mid-career executives to acquire business-to-business (B2B), business-to-government (B2G), and healthcare software and services businesses.
Brydon's three founding partners have multi-decade experience in large cap private equity (Blackstone, Carlyle), multiple successful exits in software and bulge bracket banking (Goldman, JP Morgan), and extensive public service backgrounds. Brydon initially launched a $100mm Fund I in February 2023, have made seven platform (and nine total) acquisitions since launch, and closed on a $170mm Fund II in May 2024.
This role is ideal for a highly talented candidate who wants to gain extensive deal experience and work directly with senior leaders on all aspects of sourcing, due diligence and value creation post-acquisition. There is significant opportunity for growth and promotions for the right candidates (Brydon does not require Associates to attend business school after two years).
Brydon is hiring Associates to start in both Summer 2024 and Summer 2025.
We are passionate about training our Associates in the hard skills of private equity as well as developing their abilities and judgment as both investors and operators. In this role, you will gain experience evaluating deals, building models and investment memos, conducting due diligence and interacting with sellers and management teams. Requirements We are looking for an Associate to:
Help manage a pipeline of transactions with a target of 5 - 6 transactions per year Build financial models with scenarios involving different capital structures and investment assumptions Support deal teams with the creation of investment committee memos and presentations Follow deals through to execution, including preparation of LOIs, term sheets, and transaction documents Support due diligence, including scoping and executing key analyses within tight timelines on prospective investment target companies Assisting the monitoring of portfolio company performance, including execution of value creation initiatives and attending board meetings Support the execution of quarterly investment valuations and investor presentations Contribute positively to firm culture Conducting industry research to develop and test investment theses
Qualifications Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, and/or Economics, or equivalent work experience 1-4 years of work experience in financial / transaction services including investment banking, private equity or consulting Exceptional quantitative analytic capabilities and strong Powerpoint skills to assist in preparing deal memos and materials and financial modeling experience Experience with software, business services and / or healthcare services a plus, but not required High degree of integrity, outstanding organization, decision making and problem-solving skills Entrepreneurial attitude and desire to work for a dynamic and fast-growing organization Benefits Location: Washington, D.C. office (in-person role) Dates: Start date between July - September 2024 (flexible with candidate) and Summer 2025 Deadline: Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis This role will have ample opportunity for growth and promotions for the right candidates (Brydon does not require Associates to attend business school after two years) Brydon does *require* that you attend our annual weeklong training program for our new CEOs in Residence in the Caribbean every year
