Orbital ATK is currently seeking an experienced Principal Systems Engineer to provide leadership to our Armament Systems Division team in our Plymouth, MN offices.
Responsibilities:
• Executes and leads the Systems Engineering process through Integrated Product Development Teams comprised of Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Logistics, Reliability, Human Factors and Safety.
• Derives and defines system level requirements, performs Voice of the Customer requirements analysis, and requirements management for programs.
• Perform analyses at all levels of total system life cycle to include voice of the customer, concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, support and disposal
• Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
• Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk management, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
• Develops system architecture and interface control documentation.
• Maintains 100% compliance to processes and procedures.
• Drives technical excellence by contributing to the systems engineering process and continuous improvement activities.
• Fosters a culture of risk analysis, problem identification, and problem resolution to ensure early identification of technical and project risks/issues. Develops and recommends corrective actions.
• Mentor, provide leadership, and provide technical expertise to peers and program personnel in the Systems Engineering discipline.
• Communicate effectively with government and Orbital ATK customers in presentations, informal communications, written reports and proposals.
Requirements:
Requires a BS or MS degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Systems Engineering and 7 years of professional SE experience The position requires experience in applying Systems Engineering practices to all phases of product development, production and fielding:
• Experience in the application of the Systems Engineering process, its applications, and methodologies.
• Experience in Voice of the Customer techniques, Requirements Development and Management, Architecture Definition, Verification and Validation planning and assessment, structured Decision-Management and Project Engineering
• Experience as a system engineer in programs that encompass system architecture, requirements analysis, design, production, integration, test and transition into production.
• Experience in developing Concepts of Operation, System engineering Management Plans, Interface Control Documents and other system engineering work products
• Experience with a requirements development and management tool required.
• Candidate must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and able to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance.
• INCOSE CSEP or ESEP certification preferred.
