In Interventional Cardiology Therapies, we offer a broad range of products across our Coronary Therapies, Interventional Heart Failure, and Structural Heart franchises. As we look to our future, we are investing in a broad range of early-stage development in Interventional Heart Failure. At Boston Scientific, we have a long history of product innovation and a robust product line and pipeline for continued growth. 
This is an exciting opportunity to join Boston Scientific as a Principal R&D Engineer for our Interventional Cardiology Therapies division with impact across an early-stage, multi-generation platform.
This Principal Engineer role will provide support and leadership to early-stage development of a complex interventional heart failure (i.e. pVAD) and structural heart systems. Ideate and prove out feasibility while capturing critical intellectual property to solidify our freedom to continue in further stage development. Utilize Solidworks (or other analytical software tools) to develop prototypes and build physical models for testing and demonstration. This position will provide key decision-making evidence and recommendations to quickly drive down-selection of solutions. Drive technology evolution into the product, with a fast-fail and collaborative approach to product development. Work across multiple design/product workstreams in a capacity to resolve complex problems with robust technical solutions. Exercise independent judgment in developing product requirements, methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Solutions require an in-depth system knowledge and the ability to apply that knowledge in new and innovative ways. Has expert knowledge of the impact of various solutions on the business. Defines projects and work tasks based on identified strategy and goals. Key Responsibilities: Be hands-on. Predict, analyze, build and verify. Make ideas come to life! Works with cross-functional engineering teams to develop prototype hardware. Plans and executes laboratory and preclinical research to prove feasibility of concepts and ensure robust technology performance that meets customer needs and global regulatory approval requirements. Develops and supports physician partnerships Participates in the development of others by facilitating training and providing feedback and guidance. Writes and submits intellectual property (patents). Maintains detailed documentation throughout all phases of research and development. Provides clear communication to stakeholders at key technical updates. Required Qualifications: 7+ Years with BS, 5-7 Years with MS, 3-5 Years with PhD Degree in Engineering Experience with algorithm development & data analysis for physiologic signals Demonstrated strong cross-functional collaboration, influence without authority, and project/task management enabling highly effective teams  Passion for understanding and solving problems for end users Strong written and oral communication skills Ability to work independently to plan and schedule own activities necessary to meet timelines Preferred Qualifications: PhD in Electrical or Biomedical Engineering Proven self-starter who runs towards critical issues, ambiguous requirements, or loosely defined challenges with a demonstrated ability to rally teams to achieve business results.
