PRESSROOM HELPER ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION Assist in job setup, including, but not limited to adding/removing anilox sleeves, plates, chambers, ink pans from press as required
Assist in webbing the press, if needed
Learn to perform operator duties to provide coverage for breaks, vacations, and other operator absences
Manage Raw Materials (Paper Rolls): Transportation of rolls from warehouse to press room & press room to converting room, assist in roll changes, remove waste from print rolls, Prepare rolls & cores for automatic splicing
Ink Management: Check ink pumps for ink volume, viscosity, and pH levels, Transport ink from ink room to press area
Cleaning: Cleanup of anilox, doctor blades, plate sleeves as needed, General housekeeping duties such as sweeping, emptying scrap carts to baler, returning dirty press parts to the washing station
Perform all housekeeping functions necessary to business operations (from daily shift requirements to Plant Sanitation audits) in respective work areas at all times.
Perform any and all job assignments/functions as necessary to daily business demands as instructed by Management.
Physical Demands Continuous standing and walking with minimal sitting. Frequently lift and carry 60-lb ink pails. Able to bend, twist, kneel during press cleanup/setup involves frequent, constant, continuous, and repetitive motions. Frequent carrying and holding of wide-web sleeves, plates, chambered doctor blades, and other tools as required. Frequent, regular pushing and pulling of paper rolls in excess of 2,300 3,300-lb on roll carts. Frequent ladder and stair climbing Required Skills Must follow Safety/GMP/PPE guidelines. Ability to work 12-hour shifts on rotating days, including overtime and weekends. Basic mechanical knowledge Excellent math and writing abilities. Team-oriented mindset Take direction from Press Operator Read and understand job ticket information. Desire to accept additional responsibility and learn new tasks.
