NO NIGHT SHIFTS!!! FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE!!! Looking for a fun, fast-paced place to work? Want to kickstart your career as a chef, cook, or manager? Anna's House has an opportunity for you! We are looking for an ambitious Prep Cook to assist in the preparation of delicious dishes in the kitchen. Prep Cooks perform routine kitchen tasks such as setting up workstations and ingredients so that food can be prepared according to recipes. A great Prep Cook will be quick, diligent, and focused on quality. Prep Cooks will be ready and able to follow instructions as well as all health and safety rules in the kitchen. The ideal candidate will also be able to function in a fast-paced, busy environment as part of a team.
The Prep Cook will prepare meal ingredients, recipes, condiments, and other items as directed by restaurant leadership. This includes all items on the menu, specialty menus, and features.
Responsibilities Follow the prep list created by the Chef, Kitchen Manager, or General Manager Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible Measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, etc. Undertake basic cooking duties such as reducing sauces, parboiling food, etc. Prepare simple dishes such as salads, entrees, etc. Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash, etc. Ensure all food and other items are stored properly Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines Perform other related duties as assigned Requirements Education High school diploma or equivalent preferred Experience Proven experience or training from a culinary school as a prep cook a plus Skills Manual dexterity to be able to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils Basic understanding of or the ability to learn basic sanitation and regulations for workplace safety Basic understanding of or the ability to learn food handling techniques, preparation, and cooking procedures Ability to function well in a fast-paced and at times stressful environment Ability to work quickly and efficiently Ability to work well as part of a team Work Environment Ability to stand and work in a kitchen for prolonged periods of time Ability to stand exposure to extreme heat, steam, and cold present in a kitchen environment Regularly required to use hands Regularly required to talk or hear Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds Must have weekend availability Benefits $14 - $18 per hour Flexible schedule Excellent working hours No night shifts Full-time positions eligible for health, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance, PTO, and College Tuition Discounts Future growth opportunities
