Job SummaryUnder the general direction of the Director of the Grants Development Office, the Pre-Award Operations Analyst is responsible for the planning, coordination and oversight of varied and extensive administrative tasks to support Cal Poly's pre-award activities, including but not limited to proposal preparation assignment, conducting funding searches, proposal and award tracking, oversight of student employees and interns, website development and maintenance, and departmental financial and office administration.Department SummaryThe Grants Development Office (GDO), within the Division of Research, provides leadership and strategic guidance, information, and services to administrators, faculty, and staff engaged in extramurally funded research, instruction, professional development, and community service projects from public funding sources.Key QualificationsAbility to operate effectively in a remote environment. Familiar and comfortable with scheduling, meeting, and training virtually.Demonstrated to take initiative, independently plan, organize, coordinate, and prioritize work, and perform in various situations where numerous and diverse demands with time constraints and overlapping requirements are involved.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to provide training to others. Must be able to communicate professionally, openly, and effectively with the ability to identify and understand questions and provide helpful responses for problem resolutionExcellent computer skills and demonstrated proficiency with a variety of computer applications including word-processing, spreadsheets, databases, on-line systems, Internet as well as online calendaring and email.Education and ExperienceEquivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university. One year of technical or administrative experience. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.Preferred Skills:Experience in a University research administration office with experience in sponsored project proposal preparation and submission.Demonstrated skills in an institutional/educational environment utilizing a customer-oriented and service-centered attitude.Microsoft Office certification, particularly in ExcelExperience with an electronic Research Administration system.Salary and BenefitsAnticipated Hiring Range: $60,000 - $76,000 annuallyClassification Range: $44,328 - $85,572 annuallyCal Poly offers a best-in-class benefits program, including health, dental and vision insurance, retirement participation in the Public Employees' Retirement System, and educational benefits for eligible employees.
