Qualifications Masters of Science in Nursing from an accredited university or college, or a Bachelors of Science in Nursing with a plan to complete graduate education in nursing in the next five years. Five years of clinical experience in nursing. Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse or APRN in the state of Utah required. Nursing education and leadership experience preferred. Ability to work as a member of a team is essential. Basic computer literacy skills required.
Job Summary Practical Nursing instructor(s) will be responsible for providing theory and/or clinical instruction to students in the Practical Nursing Program. Responsibilities include curriculum development and implementation, verifying student competencies, and maintaining student records.
Essential Duties Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
Teaches courses as outlined in the curriculum to include theory content, clinical content, and skills lab content. Investigates and adopts strategies that improve teaching by reviewing available teaching resources and recommending acquisition of appropriate materials. Develops, prepares, and monitors appropriate curricula changes according to the recommendations of the director, assistant director, clinical coordinator, and advisory committee members. Provides student with technical instruction in a safe environment. Creates, administers, and corrects exams. Maintains progress and attendance reports on students. Keeps accurate and complete student files. Promotes development of professional attitudes, knowledge, and behaviors among students through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed. Maintains expertise through the application of knowledge, teaching, service, clinical practice, and/or scholarly research Keeps director, assistant director, and/or clinical coordinator appraised of issues, problems, or resources needed. Coordinates with director, assistant director, and Student Services staff to resolve issues affecting student training. Controls the use of equipment and supplies; recommends purchases. Maintains Practical Nursing laboratory and equipment; maintains inventory; places inventory orders with Practical Nursing Administrative Assistant/Student Advisor as needed. Maintains accountability of students and inventory in classrooms and office areas. Works with director, assistant director and clinical coordinator in developing and evaluating clinical assignments and placements. Supervises students in clinical sites. Maintains scheduled office hours and availability to students. Adheres to safety practices. Adheres to a code of ethics. Assists with budgets and recommends purchases. Participates on assigned committee of the College, if applicable. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and/or weekends, as needed. Participate in faculty and departmental meetings Performs other duties as assigned by the director, assistant director, and/or clinical coordinator.
