Job DescriptionThis position is in the research group of Professor Valerie Welborn. The researcher in this position will be working on a NIH-funded project centered around learning how water and carbohydrates affect the formation of protein crosslinks.This appointee will perform all aspects of research in the area of assignment, including:- planning, proposing, and conducting agreed upon subprojects that addresses one, or several, scientific question(s) related to protein crosslinking.- adapting/modifying standard techniques and procedures in the field- recording data and recognize inconsistencies or problems- devising new approaches to problems- preparing professional presentations and publicationsSpecific technical duties will include:1) building of structural and intrinsically disordered protein models for atomistic techniques.2) development of enhanced sampling approaches adapted to the newly constructed models.3) mentoring graduate studentsRequired Qualifications- PhD in Chemistry or appropriate related field.
