Job DescriptionA postdoctoral position focused on the ecology and evolution of infectious disease is available in the laboratories of Dr. Kate Langwig (https://www.langwiglab.org/) and Dr. Joseph Hoyt (https://hoytresearch.org/) in the Department of Biological Sciences at Virginia Tech. The candidate will be part of a USDA funded project focused on the ecology of SARS-CoV-2 in wildlife.Responsibilities of the postdoc will include epidemiological modeling and analysis of population and infectious disease data. Training will be provided but some experience with compartmental infectious disease models (e.g. SIR models) is preferred. We encourage postdoctoral applicants to apply their own creativity and expertise to project development and there will be opportunities for the successful candidate to design and implement their own projects.The Langwig and Hoyt labs are housed in an infectious disease collaborative space, which provides an environment for interdisciplinary research on environment-infectious disease relationships. The position includes a competitive salary and fringe benefits.
