The Computer Science and Software Engineering Department at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, CA, invites applications for one full-time, Post-Doctoral Teaching/Research Scholar appointment as a Full-Time Lecturer. This primarily teaching development program seeks to attract and prepare outstanding individuals with completed PhDs for a successful career in computer science and software engineering academia by gaining teaching experience and training at a premier teaching-oriented computer science and engineering institution. Participants will primarily engage in teaching activities in fundamental or specialized computer science and software engineering courses appropriate to their preparation. They will also be supported through mentorship by experienced educators and through the University's Center for Teaching, Learning, and Technology. Although the position primarily gives instructional training and experience, teaching will be reduced by 20%-25% from a full-time position to allow participants to engage in scholarly pursuits in partnership and collaboration with the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering. This is a full academic year appointment (September to June) starting in September 2023 with the possibility of a one-year extension. This is a unique opportunity for PhD recipients with an interdisciplinary mindset to join a unique institution that values undergraduate education and applied research activities. This apprenticeship position will be hired at the rank of Lecturer B with an anticipated annual salary of $64,860 paid in 12 monthly installments of $5,405.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSPh.D. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field. Demonstrated experience and commitment to student-centered learning and teaching, as well as the ability to collaboratively work in multidisciplinary settings, is required. Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral use of the English language is required.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSUniversity teaching experience. Preference will be given to those with experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment. Preference will also be given to those with relevant work experience and those who bring professional capabilities.SPECIAL CONDITIONSThe person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.Following a conditional offer of employment, a background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate may start work with Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
