Look no further!Teck Alaska Incorporated, Red Dog Operations, one of the world's largest producers of zinc concentrate, is recruiting for a Port Medic.Reporting to the Port Coordinator, the Port Medic will be responsible for safety leadership, emergency response readiness, and medical care all set against the backdrop of the stunning Alaskan wilderness. It's an adventure that promises challenges and rewards like no other.This is a fly in/fly out position with a two weeks on/two weeks off schedule rotation.Join us in our unwavering commitment to health and safety, ensuring that everyone goes home safe and healthy every day!Responsibilities:Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and proceduresLead emergency response at Port Site Operations including first aid, firefighting, confined space rescue and spill responsePerform fire extinguisher, spill equipment, and safety inspections, including fire alarm and sprinkler systems supportAssist with MSHA and medical training, maintaining training and inspection recordsSupport Hazwoper and confined space training at Port operationsAid fall arrest trainers and manage Fall Arrest equipment maintenance and recordsCollaborate on Port site, fire department, medical, and spill response training manuals and proceduresAdminister and maintain records for audiograms, blood lead, cadmium samples, and medicationsCollect samples for drug and alcohol screens as requested by Safety & Health CoordinatorMaintain Port ambulance, fire engine, fire/ambulance bay, and clinic to high standardsProvide administrative and clerical services, ensuring office and safety equipment and supplies availabilityCreate "Red Folders" and documentation during shipping season for associated partiesAct as initial contact representing Safety & Health at the Port, assisting contractorsParticipate in Monthly Hazard Recognition auditsDeliver Monthly Safety meetingsConduct quantitative respirator fit testing as required, maintaining recordsPerform CCV audits in the field and within the PAC (Personnel Accommodation Complex)Attend day and night shift toolbox meetingsOther duties as assignedQualifications:High School Diploma or equivalentAlaska Certified EMT III or equivalent certification from outside AlaskaFirefighter II or Firefighter Driver/EngineerValid Driver's LicenseProficiency in Microsoft OfficeTeam player with a professional demeanorStrong communication skillsWill be required to acquire Fire Extinguisher Level II Certification (annual inspection) and Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card and security awareness trainingAbout TeckSuccessful candidates must be willing to satisfy the pre-employment requirements of a physical assessment, drug screen and a background check.
