Job Description
The City of Raleigh is seeking a Police Inventory Technician devoted to providing inventory and warehousing functions and professional procurement and contract administration services to the City. Incumbents provide semi-skilled, prescribed work in issuing and tracking inventory. Work may include inventory support and supplies support. Work includes receiving, storage and issuance of equipment, material, parts, supplies, merchandise, or tools. Also responsible for compiling stock records in stockroom, warehouse or storage area. This is non-sworn administrative, clerical and manual work.
Duties and Responsibilities
Counts, sorts, or weighs incoming articles to verify receipt of items on requisition or invoices. Examines stock to verify conformance to specifications
Unload trucks and stores articles in bins, on floor, or on shelves, according to identifying information such as style, size, or type of material. Fills orders or issues supplies from stock
Prepares periodic, special, or perpetual inventory of stock. Makes adjustments or repair to articles carried in stock
Determines methods of storage, identification, and stock location, considering temperature, humidity, height and weight limits, turnover, floor loading capacities, and required space
Moves or transport material or supplies to other departments. Maintains inventory, other stock records and equipment. Assists customers by looking up parts for different equipment and retrieving parts or placing orders if needed.
Records part issues on windows database. Disposes of uniforms that are no longer serviceable
Typical Qualifications
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED and one year of related experience
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.
Licensing and Certifications: Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License, or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire, and a satisfactory driving record.

Medium Work:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Working Conditions: Work is performed in both the field and in an indoor office environment with frequent exposure to hazardous physical conditions (such as mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibration, etc.); frequent exposure to atmospheric conditions (such as fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, etc.); moderate exposure to hazardous materials (such as chemicals, blood and other body fluids); frequent exposure to environmental conditions (such as disruptive people, imminent danger, or a threatening environment); frequent exposure to extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting and movement restrictions; and moderate exposure intense noise or travel.
