Summary/objective The Plumber will configure, install, fit, and maintain various piping systems, and ensure smooth operation of those systems.
Essential functions Reasonable accommodation(s) may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. Plans, prepares, installs, and maintains piping and plumbing systems composed of various materials; systems may include pipes, pressure and vacuum gauges, pipeline filters, steam traps, and strainer valves. Consults blueprints, work orders, schematics, or instructions; creates working procedure based on specifications. Gathers equipment and materials for the job. Welds, cuts, bends, threads, solders, and fits pipes. Attaches pipes and piping systems to walls using brackets, bracket systems, or clamps; cuts or bores holes prior to project. Installs various types of insulation and pipe covering; safely removes and properly discards of old coverings according to hazardous waste procedures and in accordance with EPA and OSHA requirements. Inspects pipes, testing for pressure and leaks; reports and/or resolves problems. Coordinates with manager to schedule machinery maintenance, repairs, and installation to minimize disruption to operations. Complies with applicable safety and building codes, regulations, and best practices. Maintains records, including safety logs and inspection details. Performs other related duties as assigned. Competencies Ability to use a variety of tools, which may include blowtorches, saws, pipe benders, and welding torches. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Work environment Depending on the project, it could be either indoors or outdoors or both.
Physical demands Prolonged periods standing and stretching to install and repair pipes and pipe fittings. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds (6.8 Kg) at times. Must possess visual acuity required to inspect piping systems and read plans or blueprints. Travel required. To and from project sites
Required education and experience. Successful completion of vocational school or technical college or apprenticeship program Three years of experience via on-the-job training required. Preferred education and experience College degree or Trade certification 5+ years of trade specific experience OSHA -10 certification Additional eligibility requirements Background check and Drug Test requirements Must be able to pass a background check and drug during the interview process.
