Has basic knowledge of Chevron policies and practicesJob DescriptionChevron-Renewable Energy GroupChevron is accepting online applications for the position through April 21st 2024 at11:59 p.m.Overview:Reporting to the Operations Shift Supervisor, this Lead Operator position is responsible to operate, monitor, adjust and maintain plant equipment and process variables to optimize production in a safe, efficient and environmentally responsible manner according to established practices, procedures and operating guidelines. This position is the senior outside operator that is able to provide oversite and guidance to all other outside operators and supports development of operating procedures, training/development of other operators and closely supports the Operations Shift Supervisor in day-to-day activities. This position is required to be qualified on all outside operator unit posts.Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:Operate plant equipment to ensure safe, efficient operation of the plant according to established practices, procedures and operating guidelines. This includes proper adjustments of operating conditions, process troubleshooting and close communication with the Board Operator, Operations Shift Supervisor, all other outside operators and Maintenance personnelSafely perform plant startup, shutdown, and plant emergency activitiesNotify the Operations Shift Supervisor of abnormal operating situations and equipment malfunctions affecting safe and/or efficient plant operationAssist the Operations Shift Supervisor with team leadership, maintenance coordination, management of change, procedure updates, Velocity entries, process troubleshooting, etc. as requiredSupport the Operations Shift Supervisor in the direction and management of daily operationsCoach, mentor and train all other outside operators as requiredDevelop, update and execute operations procedures, hazardous energy isolation sheets, operator rounds, etc.Conduct regular equipment checks, performing detailed process troubleshooting as requiredMaintain equipment by conducting preventative maintenance including regular equipment checks, troubleshooting, diagnosing problems, providing feedback to Maintenance, entering quality work orders, preparing equipment for maintenance and preparing area for maintenanceEnsure the safety of personnel working within the assigned area and ensure Personal Protective Equipment and other plant policies and procedures are followed at all timesFollow all safety guidelines regulated by REG, OSHA, or other regulatory agenciesSupport the development, implementation, and coordination of the operator training and qualification process to ensure compliance with process safety management standardsSupport process safety management systems including, but not limited to, management of change, process hazard analysis, process safety information, mechanical integrity program and work permitting process to ensure compliance with process safety management standardsSupport the issuing of all safe work permits pertaining to routine maintenance activities, turnaround work and/or other non-routine workMonitor and continually improve quality control in all aspects of plant operationMake recommendation on improving production efficiency at the plant and assist in the implementation of such recommendationsPerform other duties as assignedRequired QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED certificate is requiredPossess a valid driver's license and a clean driving recordEight or more years of refinery and/or petrochemical plant operating experience or similar experienceCommissioning, start-up and shut-down, and/or turnaround experience within a refinery and/or petrochemical plantExperience coaching, training and/or mentoring junior staffPreferred QualificationsProcess Technology DegreeProficient with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft OutlookSpecific experience with hydroprocessing systems such as gas oil hydrocrackers and residuum hydrotreaters or similar high pressure, high temperature catalytic process systems is also strongly preferred.Eight or more years of refinery and/or petrochemical plant operating experience or similar experienceCommissioning, start-up and shut-down, and/or turnaround experience within a refinery and/or petrochemical plantExperience coaching, training and/or mentoring junior staffAbility to work independently, or as part of a teamAbility to organize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously to meet deadlinesAbility to support Maintenance to ensure effective and efficient Schedule adherenceAbility to work efficiently and safely under stressAbility to read and understand plant P&ID'sAbility to operate office software and effectively use e-mailAbility to distinguish colorsAbility to effectively communicate both orally and in writingAbility to write standard operating procedures and training material contentBe available for work and overtime as requiredProvide personal contact information to customers on an as needed basis for official business purposesStrong leadership and communication (written and verbal) skills with the ability to motivate and influence othersUnderstand complex technical operating environment, coordinating of daily objectives and setting priorities to achieve daily production planMust have strong scheduling skills as well as managing the training, vacation and overtime of the Unit OperatorsMust be a self-starter with ability to work under pressure and meet deadlinesExhibit strong judgment, analytical and decision making skills for complex operational issuesStrong organizational skills, ability to manage conflicting priorities and deliver on aggressive timelines in operations environmentPossess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability
