WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR 5 plus years of experience in pipe fitting & fabrication. (Mandatory) Proficient in Stick Welding Pipe (Mandatory) Mig welding experience (Preferred) Tig welding experience (Preferred)5 plus years of experience in commercial mechanical construction/fabrication (preferred) Any plumbing background is a plus Ability to read and interpret blue prints, CAD/Spool Drawings and hand sketches (Mandatory) Ability to understand and implement Pipe Fitting fractions, decimals, and Pythagorean Theorem (Mandatory) Full pipefitter/fabrication tool box OTHER ATTRIBUTES YOU'LL NEED Self-Starter Excellent Listening Skills Effective Communicator Team-oriented (Humble, Hungry, Smart) Willingness to learn Willingness to share and implement new ideas Task Duration/Quality Balance and Awareness Innovative, finding new ways to complete tasks to improve fab shop efficiency and accuracy FUNCTIONAL ROLE A Pipefitter assembles, lays out, assembles, installs and maintains pipe systems, pipe supports and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, and industrial production and processing systems by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Select type and size of pipe and related materials and equipment, such as supports, hangers and hydraulic cylinders according to specifications Inspects work site to determine presence of obstructions and to ascertain that holes cut for pipe will not cause structural weakness Plans installation or repair to avoid obstructions and to avoid interfering with activities of other workers Cuts, threads and bends pipe Assembles and installs variety of metal and nonmetal pipes, tubes and fittings including iron, steel, copper and plastic Connects pipes using threaded, caulked, soldered, brazed, fused or cemented joints Secures pipes to structure with brackets, clamps and hangers Installs and maintains hydraulic and pneumatic components of machines and equipment such as pumps and cylinders Installs and maintains refrigeration and air-condition systems, including compressors, pumps, meters pneumatic and hydraulic controls and piping. Increases pressure in pipe system and observes connected pressure gauge to test system for leaks Weld pipe supports to structural steel members Observes production equipment in assigned area of job site or facility to detect machinery malfunctions Operates equipment to verify repair Takes directives and reports to the pipe fab shop Foreman. Strives to meet goals provided by the pipe fab shop Foreman on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. Expectation to be multi trade oriented: pipe fitting, plumbing, structural, welding etc. fabrication. Expectation to fabricate and install fabrication on site at times.
