The Founding Physical Education Teacher will have the following key responsibilities: Provide a strong foundation of learning and achievement for scholars in K-5. Provide TEKS-aligned physical education lessons to scholars in K-5. Enforce classroom management procedures and protocol. Create and maintain an inclusive classroom environment that values high expectations and character development for every child. Provide consistent and clear high academic and behavioral expectations. Perform duties during non-academic times (arrival, breakfast, lunch, recess, and dismissal). Assist with grading and data analysis. Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff. Participate in feedback, coaching, and professional development sessions. Implement formal and informal fitness assessments to track each individual student's progress and learning needs, adjust lesson plans accordingly and update gradebook weekly. Communicate students' fitness progress with student and family on a weekly basis Enhance students' disposition toward leading a physically active lifestyle Analyzes, demonstrates, and explains basic skills, knowledge and strategies of formal sports, games, rhythms, and fundamentals of body movement. Works cooperatively with other physical education teachers in planning and implementing a balanced physical education program. Required Qualifications Associates degree required, bachelor's degree preferred. Deep alignment with the school's mission and core values. A staunch belief that all students regardless of race or socio-economic status can achieve at high levels and be positive contributors to their communities. A successful background check in compliance with state law. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with all school stakeholders. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
