Overview: We are seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Tech that is detailed oriented and customer focused to join our dynamic ophthalmology practice. As a valued member of our practice, you will play a vital role in ensuring exceptional patient care and smooth clinic operations.
Responsibilities: Monitor the prescription line and respond promptly to inquiries, refill requests, and patient concerns. Process electronic prescriptions from ERX Bucket and Rcopia (EMR) systems, ensuring accurate entry and timely fulfillment Handle prescription authorizations by communicating with insurance companies and healthcare providers to obtain approval for medication coverage Assist patients in enrolling in prescription assistance programs offered by pharmaceutical companies or other organizations Process faxed requests for prescription refills and authorization, verifying information and obtaining necessary approvals Prepare appeal letters for medication coverage denials, advocating for patients' medical needs and requesting reconsideration from insurance companies Liaise with healthcare providers to communicate change requests for prescriptions and address denials from insurance companies Maintain accurate patient records by updating charts with prescription denials, authorization approvals, and other relevant information Cultivate and maintain relationships with pharmaceutical representatives to stay informed about new medications, discounts, and promotional offers. Qualifications: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification Previous experience working in a pharmacy or healthcare setting is advantageous. Proficiency in using electronic prescription systems such as ERX and Rcopia. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in medication processing. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, and procedures. Education Requirement: High school diploma or equivalent Work Schedule: 8:30AM-5:00PM Flexibility is key, with occasional availability required on weekends and evenings.
