You will draft complaints, settlement statements, and other legal documents in preparation for trial. You will be responsible for maintaining case files and gathering all necessary records for individuals who have been injured. We need someone with experience ordering, reviewing, and summarizing medical materials for settlement demands and factual responses to discovery. We are looking for someone personable and compassionate who will provide support for clients who have experienced traumatic events.Responsibilities:Manage a modest caseload (25-50), ensuring that all deadlines and procedural requirements are metOrder, review, and summarize medical records for preparing demands and factual responses to discovery requestsDiscuss potential lien, bill, and medical expense settlements with service providers and/or insurersHelp attorneys create legal pleadings, paperwork, and correspondence, including interrogatories, deposition notifications, complaints, pretrial orders, etc.Assist in preparation for trial by arranging exhibits, witnesses, legal materials, client meetings, and motionsCommunicate with clients on a regular basis to inform them of case developments and address their questions/concernsPerform other related administrative tasks as requiredQualifications:Candidates should possess high-level organizational skills, and time-management skillsCandidates must have completed an ABA-approved paralegal certificate program such as an Associate's degree or proprietary school program in paralegal studies, Bachelor's degree preferredCertification from the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA) is highly preferred3-5 years of legal service experience under an attorney or lawyer required, preferably in a personal injury law firmTalented verbal communicator and writerAbout Company:Mika & Associates P.C. is a Colorado Springs-based boutique criminal defense and personal injury firm dedicated to assisting individuals in their time of need.
