Responsibilities
• Assembling, operating, and disassembling the heart lung machine• Setting up and operating ECMO's, Cell Savers, Rapid Infusion devices, etc.• Managing patient parameters within safe ranges• Supporting organ transplants, laser procedures, and perioperative LVAD support• Performing patient charting and preparing sterile packs• Assisting in research, product evaluation, and education of staff and students• Maintaining current knowledge in perfusion• Sharing on-call responsibilities and routine staffing and operating room coverage• Sharing daily tasks and operation of department functions• Other duties as assigned
Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree and completion of an accredited school of perfusion• Eligible to take the certification examination of the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion• Certification as a Clinical Perfusionist preferred• Critical thinking skills and ability to work unsupervised• Three months of on-the-job experience required• Physical requirements: lifting heavy weights, standing, walking, sitting, good visual acuity• Willingness to rotate 24-hour coverage (on-call) and work under stressful conditions• Ability to work within guidelines of universal safety precautions
