Schedule: 36 hours a week Shift :  Monday – Thursday, 7:30am – 4:30pm Location: B.E. Smith Family Center - Britian Development Center 7415 Grandview St, Shawnee Mission, KS 66204 The community you'll be caring for: At AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, you're more than just a number on a chart. The role you'll contribute: Britain Development is an early intervention program for children from birth through six years of age with special needs. The Pathways Program is an early intervention program within Britain Development that is specifically designed to serve the needs of young children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The Behavior Technician, under the supervision of the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), is responsible for conducting individual and group treatment to assist children to develop maximum cognitive, social, self-help, communication and motor skills. The Behavior Technician will assist the BCBA, teachers and therapists in a variety of settings and work closely with parents and other professional staff. The Behavior Technician supports the Center and staff by helping to maintain a clean and hygienic environment and maintaining organization in the Pathways classroom and other areas. Assisting the BCBA with organization of data and individual children's programs is also a daily requirement. The Behavior Technician demonstrates leadership/management skills and a commitment to professional accountability and growth. The Behavior Technician serves as a role model for the mission, vision and values of AdventHealth Shawnee Mission. The value you'll bring to the team: · Provide direct therapy under the supervision of the BCBA to assist children to develop maximum cognitive, language, self-help, social, and motor skills. · Collaborate with other team members including physical, occupational, speech-language and music therapists as well as early childhood special educators and BCBA. · Collaborate with leadership team and social worker on individual child and family needs and accessing community resources · Train and educate students, interns, volunteers, and patient's family members. · Support the Britain Development staff by helping to maintain a clean and hygienic environment. · Maintains organization in the Pathways classroom and other areas. · Assists the BCBA with organization of data and individual children's programs on a daily basis. · Maintains a professional team relationship with co-workers by being considerate of workloads, assisting with duties, and being supportive toward their continued growth. · Communicates honestly and confronts issues and problems in a private setting. · Respects each discipline's expertise and knowledge; doesn't question someone's expertise in front of the patient/family. · Punctual with returning phone calls and emails, and for scheduled work hours, meetings, and patient treatment. · Utilizes computer access confidentially, appropriately and following HIPAA guidelines, including appropriate use of social media. · Completes all charges and documentation in accordance with department practice, policy, and procedure in a timely fashion. · Provides quality patient care skills/procedures in a manner that takes into account the special needs of the patient, e.g., age, culture, learning ability, etc. · Demonstrates the initiative to learn and applies new processes and procedures by attending in-services, pertinent continuing education seminars, and reading professional journals and sharing that information with team members. · Reports any equipment or maintenance problems and safety concerns to Office Coordinator and/or direct supervisor. · Demonstrates the ability to prioritize and organize workload in an efficient and productive manner in the assigned work time. Qualifications The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed :  KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: · Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office · Must be able to read, write, and speak conversational English KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED: · Entry level competency of behavior analytic practice with young children EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: · Bachelor's Degree · No previous experience is required. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED: ·1 to 2 Years of Position-Related Experience LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED: · Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) through the BACB required within 90 days of date of hire LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED: · Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) through the BACB · Crisis De-Escalation Techniques · HeartSaver CPR obtained through the American Heart Association · First Aid Certification This facility is an equal opportunity employer and complies with federal, state and local anti-discrimination laws, regulations and ordinances.
