Full job description Robert Half is seeking a Payroll Tax Operations Specialist I to join the Payroll Tax department. The department is responsible for tax reporting, tax compliance, researching, analyzing and resolving escalated or complex problems that result from payroll processing. Additionally responsible for balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis, payroll tax reporting, preparation and correction of general ledger journal entries and International Payroll.



Specific responsibilities include: Ensures daily US Federal, state, and local tax integration files from both Workday and Field Peoplesoft (Field HCM) are successfully sent to ADP for all tax frequencies' deposits and filings. Works to maintain a tracking log of all debit payments, check date and debit/credit amounts via daily Treasury report cross check of debited/credited funds to ADP invoices. Researches and sets up any newly registered US tax jurisdictions in the payroll tax outsourcer system. Prepares and reports BLS and MWR statistical information monthly and quarterly. Participates in audit requests for internal and external audits. Monitors tax return correspondence from tax agencies and identifies changes as they apply to each agency account. Submits all changes to payroll tax outsourcer for US items. Work directly with internal teams for Canadian tax account changes that apply to both Workday and PeopleSoft (Field HCM) systems. Performs analysis and research of discrepancies and solves to complete resolution. US miscellaneous and Canadian payroll tax compliance issues and notices are researched and resolved directly with the appropriate tax agency. Research and resolution require placing agency calls to inquire about account details and creating collaborative partnerships with tax agencies. Ensures tax system compliance updates and changes are understood as they influence changes to internal processes and procedures, which may require outsourcer updates and internal systems. Maintain department specific files and process procedure reviews, and other clerical duties.
Qualifications: AA degree or equivalent work experience. 1-2 years payroll/payroll tax experience. Intermediate Excel and Word. Knowledge of Workday, Peoplesoft, ADP or other Payroll/tax software and its operational uses. Detail oriented. Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) in English. A proven track record of maintaining high-volume production as well as upholding quality output. Ability to work in an environment with multiple integrated business systems The typical annual salary range for this position is shown below and is negotiable depending upon experience and location.
