Job Summary
The Payroll and Benefits Specialist (PBS) is responsible for assisting in administering the company's bi-weekly payroll, group health and welfare benefits, and 401(k) plan. This position is responsible for adherence to all relevant payroll laws, policies, and procedures in the relevant jurisdictions. Participation in the ongoing development and documentation of departmental policies and procedures will also be a key aspect of this role. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:   Leads the preparation and administration of payroll for all U.S. and Canadian employees, including auditing payroll processing reports for accuracy, and resolving errors as needed. Ensures that all compensation is paid accurately and in a timely manner. Coordinates all year-end payroll and benefits processes, reconciliations, and remittances. Prepares and processes monthly benefits invoices and remittances. Issues ad hoc, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, including all year end processing. Serves as the point person for all employee inquiries regarding payroll and benefits. Maintains detailed records and documentation of payroll functions for audit purposes, in accordance with statutory requirements. Assists in ensuring attendance records are accurately maintained within ADP. Stays abreast of compliance requirements and industry best practices; recommends changes or modifications to existing policies and programs to remain in compliance; and adopts best practices where feasible. Administers group health and welfare benefits, including the enrollment and unenrollment of employees from the group health and group retirement plans, as needed. Resolves payroll errors as needed. Other duties as assigned. SKILLS/ABILITIES:   Strong quantitative and critical thinking skills. Demonstrated time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Flexibility and strong interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse environment. Strong sense of ethics and the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive and private information with tact and discretion. Knowledge of payroll policies, legislation, regulations, standards. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:   College or University education in related field. 2+ years of U.S. and Canadian payroll experience in a complex environment. Experience with payroll systems; ADP Workforce Now experience strongly preferred.
