A leading global industrial services and metals recycling company, Scrap Metal Services, LLC , . is seeking an exceptionally strong Payroll and Benefits Professional to join their team. This full-time, hybrid opportunity is based out of the Corporate Office in East Chicago, IN. This opportunity is best suited for someone who is passionate about being an integral part of a driven finance team and is self-motivated to make things happen efficiently and accurately.  
 
Key Accountabilities Manage and oversee all aspects of payroll and benefits administration functions including:   Processing weekly hourly payroll in both a union and non-union environment.   Processing weekly salary payroll. Accountable for the financial integrity of the payroll process.   Maintain accurate & complete employee records.   Administer employee benefits programs (medical, dental, vision, life, 401K and disability).   Stay current in payroll, payroll taxes and benefits laws and requirements and communicate changes and updates to employees and management.   Maintain ongoing development of policies and programs and bring in best practices to offer the most accurate, legally compliant, and efficient payroll processes.   Ensure the timely filing of all payroll and benefit related tax forms and reports.   Develop ad hoc financial and operational reporting and provide analytics and key business metrics as required.   Identify opportunities for improvement and take the lead in advocating payroll operational priorities.   Establish and sustain strong on-going collaborative relationships internally and externally.   Assist in the annual employee benefit plan audit. Assist in the annual financial audit process as needed. Assist in the benefit plan renewal process as needed. Assist the Accounting team in the preparation of monthly journal entries and accrual postings.   Skills & Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, human resources, or a related field.  3 – 5 years' experience working in a corporate accounting/finance environment.  3 – 5 years' progressive management experience in Payroll in a unionized setting.  3 – 5 years' experience working in benefits administration.   Demonstrated experience supporting employees and management.   Strong analytical and problem skills to resolve complex issues, identify trends/patterns, model alternatives, develop and recommend fact-based solutions required.   Solid coaching, negotiating and influencing skills.   Experience with Paychex a plus.   Experience implementing a new Payroll/HR system a plus.   Our Culture :
