JOB SUMMARY:
Teaches nurse aide and patient care technician content, processes, application and workplace skills and supervises the clinical practice of students at clinical sites. Responsible for planning, delivering and evaluating didactic, laboratory skills, and clinical experiences based upon specific goals and objectives established within specific Career and Technical Education instructional program guidelines. ESSENTIAL DUTIES : Demonstrates mastery of content and clinical area; Prepares intended and activities using the division's curriculum to assigned classes and shows evidence of preparation upon request of the supervisors; Content includes; personal/vocational relations, anatomy & physiology, nurse aide and patient care technician skills, nutrition, and comprehensive personal care of the geriatric client population and hospital population for PCT. Process skills which include: problem solving, critical thinking, teaming, technical writing and communication related to course content and employment. Application skills through personal networked computers, co-curricular activities and school to work transition experiences. Assesses students' learning on an ongoing basis and altars instruction to meet group/individual needs; Develops summative tests of students' learning and uses results for further student instruction, grading, and placement; Develops and maintains a favorable psychological and physical environment that is conducive to effective learning; Maintains order and encourages students to set and maintain high standards of behavior within the classroom and clinical settings in accordance with division guidelines regarding pupil behavior management and in support of the health care agency; Establishes friendly and cooperative relationships between the home and the school; Establishes and maintains cooperative professional relations with others; Demonstrates commitment to improving professional competence; Respects the home responsibility of parents for their children; Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities; Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations; Performs other duties as assigned by the administration in accordance with the school division's policies and practices. Performs related duties as assigned by the principal. JOB SPECIFICATIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Comprehensive knowledge of complex governmental accounting and budgeting practices Comprehensive knowledge of: the concepts, principals, methodologies of instruction, learning theory teaching methodologies and of current practices, tools, equipment, techniques of current nursing theory and practice. Demonstrated ability to develop instructional goals for students; teach effectively in didactic and clinical settings and use of nurse aide and PCT simulations; to prepare and monitor a budget. Ability to: apply modern methods and principles of education to pupils functioning at the secondary school level; maintain an interest in the positive improvement and development of children, adolescents, or adults of normal and/or impaired learning ability; maintain proper discipline; establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, parents and students. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects, and some light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires fingering, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Must have a current, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse (BSN) AND hold or be eligible for Technical Professional teaching license per VDOE guidelines in Practical Nursing or Nursing Aide / First Aid Instructor Certification Must have a minimum of two years of nursing experience within the past five (5) years and at least one (1) year of direct client care or supervisory experience in the provision of geriatric long-term care services. Other experience may include, but not be limited to, employment in a nurse aide education program or employment in or supervision of nursing students in a nursing facility or unit, geriatrics department, chronic care hospital, home care, or another long-term care setting. Experience should include varied responsibilities, such as direct client care, supervision, and education.
Must have a current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS/First Aid Certification and/or AHA instructor certification American Heart Association CPR Instructor Certified "Train the Trainer" coursework to be completed within 6 months APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
